The Inspiration

~ Last winter I left my hectic life in Los Angeles, eager to return home for the holidays, nostalgic as always for my childhood's white Christmas. Unfortunately, this past year, Christmas in the Mauricie region of Quebec, looked strangely like Christmas in Southern California…brisk and "snow-less". New Year’s Eve and the following week revealed to be just the same. Eventually, I came to the sad realization that I wouldn't see any snow and my annual snowman making ritual wouldn't happen.

In my little town where the weather is always a prime topic of conversation, the word on the street was “global warming”. Everybody seemed to have added this new expression to their daily vocabulary. Sitting on my balcony, looking at my "snow-less" hometown, I started thinking maybe there was more behind all those comments than just polite conversation.

Over Christmas break, we received a holiday card picturing two snowmen walking away hand in hand. Looking at the card, my mother and aunt Michelle jokingly said: “they can’t find a place to go on vacation this year, because it’s melting everywhere! Soon they’ll be extinct"... And suddenly, there it was! Right there in my family living room, the idea for Save a Snowman was born.

Upon my return to Los Angeles I decided to further research climate change. I had until then, dedicated my life to filmmaking but the more I talked to people - water engineers, scientists, everyday people - the more I started feeling that nothing could be more important than creating a safe Earth for today and tomorrow's generations. As much as a part of my heart remains anchored in film, the urgency of the climate crisis has become a vivid focus in my life. Change is happening, and I want to be part of it.

Above all, I want to create an organization where people feel empowered to truly affect the outcome of their world. To me, Save a Snowman will always be an organization that cares for everyone, has no borders, no politics and where people can directly get involved in greening projects while being clearly informed on where their money goes. Save a Snowman, simply stands for eliminating global warming with a smile on your face. Healing Earth and insuring our future on this planet is quite a project...let's have fun doing it!

Save a Snowman is now a fully recognized 501c3 tax exempt non-profit organization.

I invite you to discover this site, learn about our projects and most particularly, visit our Snowmen Orphanage. I hope you’ll join our cause. Let your inner child tag along...together we can make a difference, help insure the future of our children...and Save a Snowman.
