I'm writing today to ask you to take the necessary action to help build a sustainable world.

Canada has always been a symbol of peace and a primary example of how quality of life and personal success live hand in hand. The opportunity to be a leader in alternative technologies is one we cannot pass up. Our need for jobs and greater revenue demands that we actively embrace the development of those technologies.

As an industrialized nation, our way of life creates major consequences on Earth's ecosystems. There are bigger polluters in the world than us, but this is no excuse to sit back and wait for others to lead the way. The time is now and we need to recognize not only the economical value, but also the human responsibility we have to build on sustainability and eliminate global warming.

I'm asking you to demand clean public transport, increased fuel efficiency vehicles, more research for alternative fuels as well as solar and wind energy alternatives. I'm asking you to pressure leaders to make those technologies readily affordable and widespread in our citizens' everyday life. I urge you to actively implement the Kyoto protocol in our region and at the Parliament. As we both know, this ultimately isn't about financial gain, this is about quality of life.

Climate change affects us all. Be part of the future, be part of the solution. Beyond politics lies the fundamental right to live in a clean, safe, and sustainable world.
