Walking and biking will always be the most environmentally friendly form of transportation. However, we all know the demands of everyday life are a bit more complicated. Today's cars account for a huge percentage of total greenhouse gas emissions. Given how necessary cars are in our daily lives, what are the solutions? |

We've all seen sci-fi movies with futuristic computerized vehicles...and we all thought they looked pretty cool. Well it's time to turn that fantasy into reality. New fuel-efficient, zero emission cars exist and not only do they challenge the laws of "transportation as we know it," car companies are designing vehicles of the future to be even safer and more reliable and efficient. When ultimately our health and well-being are at stake, there truly doesn't seem to be any reason to stick with fossil fuel. Who wants to inhale gasoline fumes every time they fill up? Technologies like biodiesel, compressed natural gas and plug-in hybrid systems are already available and growing more and more accessible. It's a matter of how much we believe in our potential and adopt these changes in our everyday lives. |

Improving our cities with zero emission public transportation like metro trains, buses, will not only give us cleaner air, but also allow us to travel to and from work without the stress. We can sit comfortably and read, get work done, talk safely on the phone, listen to music while admiring beautiful roof gardens and green public spaces as we pass by. It seems a lot more appealing than inhaling pollution while stuck in traffic staring at concrete, doesn't it? The good news is: The future isn't a sci-fi movie, it's here now. All we need to do is claim it. | |||||
